Helmets are required for all riders when mounted! Maintree provides helmets for use during lessons for anyone who does not own one.

Maintree Farm makes every effort to begin lessons on time. Students can help keep lessons on schedule by arriving 20-30 minutes prior to their scheduled lesson time, and have their mount groomed and tacked and waiting at the arena for their class to begin. For beginners, or those who need, assistance is often available to properly tack the horse/pony, however riders are strongly encouraged to learn this skill.

It is the responsibility of all riders to groom their horse after their lesson and to put their tack away in the tack room. Stirrups should be run up and saddles put on a rack, girths hung on the wall, bridles and martingales placed on the proper hook, saddle pads put back in the tack room, grooming supplies placed back in the grooming totes and helmets, halters and lead ropes hung up. Additionally, we ask riders to please take a moment to clean up after your horse in the barn aisle if needed. When using shower stalls, please make sure water has been turned off and wash supplies placed back in the buckets.

In the event of inclement weather, please be advised that when Loudoun County schools are closed, there are no lessons.

Students may not use cell phones during lessons. They should be turned off, or left at home.

Checks are made payable to Maintree Farm and are payable at the beginning of each lesson. Please pay your lesson fee directly to the instructor at the beginning of the lesson. It is possible to arrange for monthly billing for lessons. This is done with approval from Maintree staff.

If you cannot make your regularlary scheduled lesson, the courtesy of at least a 24 hour notice is appreciated. Effective August 2009, students may be charged for lessons cancelled without prior notice.

Earn free lessons - There are many activities anyone can particpate in to earn a free lesson.
